Already Vaped Bud (ABV) is the brown, crispy leftover herb left over after a vape session. Many cannabis users toss their leftovers without a second thought, believing it to be free from any further use.
Good cannabis isn't cheap, even though a DynaVap dry herb vaporizer can help you stretch your herb. Why let something good go to waste? So start saving up that ABV because we've got 10 creative ways to make the most of it.
1. AVB Edibles
Adding some ABV to your favorite edible recipe can be a game changer. And unlike cannabis flower , it has been decarboxylated so it's ready to use. Cooking or baking with vaped weed can help mask the bitter taste and put those leftover cannabinoids to good use.
2. Water Cure Your ABV Weed
One of the biggest complaints with using vaped marijuana is the taste. The taste can be less than desirable, but lucky for you, you can wash away the yuck.
Water curing washes away residual particles, chemicals, and all the things responsible for giving weed its flavor and aroma. Water-cured cannabis edibles can smell and taste like normal treats.
It's a simple process that involves roughly half of an ounce of ABV.
- Bundle your ABV with a cheesecloth
- Place the bundle into a bowl of water while allowing it to soak
- Change dirty water every couple of hours
- Repeat the process for up to four days, changing the water frequently
- Drain the water and wring out the teabag
- Place the remaining ABV onto a baking sheet at 200 degrees for two hours
Water-cured cannabis won't make your ABV taste like fresh flower, but it certainly can help improve your experience.
3. Caps
Cannabis capsules are a simple, direct way to consume weed. All you'll need are some empty capsules and some ABV for this method. Just swallow it with water like you would with any other pill and wait for the effects to kick in. This is a discrete option and you won't have to worry about the taste. However, the effects are more delayed as the capsule breaks down and dissolves.
4. Smoke It
Technically, you can straight up smoke your remaining vaped bud. It works best after one round of use with a dry herb vaporizer. Bud that has been vaporized repeatedly will lack potency and leave behind a terrible taste . It won't have the same effects as fresh bud.
5. Infused Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is a super versatile oil for a range of recipes and edibles. This method could also benefit from water curing. To make infused coconut oil you will need a slower cooker, a few hours, and some ABV.
The process:
- Add ABV and Coconut Oil to your slow cooker.
- Allow the mixture to heat at a low temperature for several hours.
- Occasionally, stir the mixture to prevent the material from burning.
- After several hours, allow the mixture in your slow cooker to cool.
- Upon cooling, take your ABV and coconut oil mixture and sift it through a cheesecloth.
- Store the remaining debris-free oil in a cool, dark place until ready for use.
6. AVB Cannabutter
ABV cannabutter requires a larger quantity of ABV as ABV is significantly less potent than fresh cannabis. The process is pretty simple, altogether.
To make your own ABV cannabutter you will need
- ABV
- 1 Cup of Water
- 1 Cup of Butter
Warm the water and butter in a pan together, adding in your ABV weed. Allow the mixture to coalesce and simmer as the THC dissolves within the butter and oil. This process will take a couple of hours and it will result in your filtering of the remains through a cheesecloth before storing them to cool in the fridge. The next day, you can take the cooled and hardened mixture for use in cooking edibles or simply topping your morning toast. ABV cannabutter is an incredibly flexible product to keep on hand in your kitchen, so don't throw out any excess ABV if you don't need to!
7. THC Tincture
THC tinctures are an incredible way for medical users to discretely dose cannabis. Sublingual activation through oil pulling can lead to quickened results that provide targeted relief in times of need. To make a tincture out of ABV, you'll have to decide if the process is worth the time of investment.
Remember to adjust this recipe as needed and to fit the quantity of ABV that you have.
- Decarboxylate your cannabis flower. This was accomplished when you smoked your fresh flower through your dry herb vaporizer.
- Mix the remaining ABV in your possession into a mason jar with some high-proof alcohol like Everclear.
- Seal the jar and let it sit for a couple of weeks, shaking the jar just once per day.
- After several weeks, strain the liquid through a coffee filter.
A THC tincture can be used under your tongue or with a meal. Get creative with your THC tinctures to maximize the benefits that your cannabis experience provides.
8. Sprinkle On Your Meal
If you don't feel like going through the steps to craft cannabutter or a tincture, there are less time-intensive options. Weed that has been decarboxylated by a dry herb vaporizer can be sprinkled atop your favorite meal. We advocate for at least water curing your ABV so as to minimize the bitter taste that might otherwise manifest.
If you don't want to water cure your ABV but want to ingest it quickly and with as little flavor as possible, consider adding a scoop of ABV to some peanut butter on a piece of toast. Peanut butter does an exceptional job of masking the flavor of ABV while also providing a protein-rich carrier agent for the ABV to traverse through your system.
Keep in mind, consuming ABV can be a sensory experience. Don't expect to love the taste at first and if the taste is too much to get over, opt for water curing to obtain the best results.
9. Create ABV Concentrates
When we think about cannabis concentrates, we typically think of fat dabs and meteoric highs. With ABV, we can make concentrates that are much lower in cannabinoid levels and much easier to consume. This is an advanced process that demands the use of a couple of different tools.
Required accessories for making ABV concentrates
- Rosin Press or Hair Straightener
- Alcohol For Extraction
- Parchment Paper
- Oven Mitt
Once these tools are collected, simply press the ABV in a rosin press or with alcohol to extract key cannabinoids. If you do not have a rosin press, instead reach for your hair straightener and preheat it to 300 degrees. Place your ABV onto the parchment paper, folding it over to better contain the herb. Now use the hair straightener to squeeze the paper shut, heating the ABV and causing a liquid to emerge. This liquid can be separated from cannabis for consumption. While ABV extracts won't taste as good as fresh cannabis that has been extracted, it will still do the job.
10. Brew Up A Cup of ABV Tea
After a solid session with your dry herb vaping device at a lower temperature, you'll be left with some fantastic material to steep in a tea.
Vaped weed can be added directly to your milk and tea mixture before consumption. The vaped weed inside the mixture should be microwaved for up to an hour, or otherwise heated atop the stove. Filter the remaining milk with a cheesecloth or a handy coffee filter before adding the remaining content to your favorite freshly brewed coffee or tea.
